Double Cast-on Method

The Double cast-on method creates a cast-on similar to the double / long tail / two-strand cast-on in needle knitting. It creates a firm, elastic edge that is elastic that is perfect for ordinary edges and ribbing.

Tools needed

  • Knitting board
  • Crochet hook
Before casting-on, review the good loom knitting habits. It's important not to wrap tightly.

  1. Make a slip not and place it on your crochet hook.
You will be working around the knitting board starting on the lower rake on the left at peg 1 and moving to the right and then up to the upper rake from the right to the left and ending back up on peg 1.
  2. Place the crochet hook on the outside of the knitting board in front of peg 1 and bring the working yarn to the back of the peg. Grab the working yarn with your crochet hook and crochet a single stitch so that it wraps peg 1.

  3. Repeat step 2 All around the knitting board.

  4. When you finish to peg 2, place the wrap that is on the crochet hook on peg 1.
From the front of the loom, you will see two wraps on each peg. On the back, you will see one.
  5. Knit off each peg and then wrap the board for your stitch pattern.
