Slip 1, Knit 1 through the back loop, Pass the Slip Stitch Over (S1 K1 tbl PSSO / SKtblP)

skp left-slanting decrease stitchThe SKP stitch is a left slanting decrease stitch that is similar to an SSK stitch except that it looks less tidy. It is worked with a flat or knit stitch. The SKtblP stitch is a right slanting decrease stitch that is similar to the SSK tbl stitch but looks less tidy. To work an SKP or SKtblP stitch on the loom, you will need to pick up one wrap, put it on the peg on either side (depending on the stitch), wrap the peg as called for and then knitting off. Sometimes loom patterns will write SKP or Sl1 K1 PSSO when they mean SKtblP or Sl1 K1 tbl PSSO. If the pattern is using an k tbl (e-wrap) stitch as the main stitch, it is likely that the SKP/Sl1 K1 PSSO is really an SKtblP.

Because SKP is a left-slanting decrease, it is worked on the right side of the loom in flat knitting. If you need to decrease on the left side of the loom, use either an K2tog or KRPR stitch.
With the Flat Stitch
  1. Move the wrap of the peg to the left on top of the peg you want to knit an SKP stitch.

  2. Bring the working yarn in front of the peg, above the two wraps.

  3. Lift the bottom two wraps over the working yarn to knit off the peg.

  4. Pull on the new wrap a bit with the knitting tool to make it looser.
With the Knit Stitch
  1. Move the wrap of the peg to the left on top of the peg you want to knit an SKP stitch.

  2. Bring the working yarn in front of the peg, above the two wraps.

  3. Place the knitting tool under bottom wrap in the groove of the peg.

  4. Turn the knitting tool up in the groove and under the wraps on the peg.

  5. Grab the working yarn by circling around the outside and then around its top catching it as you slide the tool down the groove of the peg. This will create a new wrap on the knitting tool.

  6. Grab this new wrap from the knitting tool with your fingers and pull up to take the other wraps off the peg and place the new wrap in your fingers on the peg.

  7. Pull the working yarn to tighten the new wrap on the peg if necessary.
Because SK tbl P is a right slanting decrease it is worked on the left side of the loom in flat knitting. If you need to decrease on the left side of the loom, use an K2tog tbl stitch.
